Cover Evolution of Top 8 Fashion Magazines

These magazines are well-known all over the world. Millions of readers purchase their editions in seek of lifestyle and fashion advise. Celebrities of all times are being featured on their covers each month. We are so much used to their nowadays glossy appearances, that it is hard to imagine that some of these magazines have already been around for more than 100 years and encountered drastic changes over time!
For this post I have collected the very first and the latest covers of the top 8 fashion magazines. What a difference!

HARPER’S BAZAAR 

Harper’s Bazaar’s first edition was launched in 1867 in the United States.

COSMOPOLITAN

Originally published as a family magazine in 1886 in the United States, Cosmopolitan quickly became a place for popular fiction.  It transformed into a women’s magazine in the late 1960s.

VOGUE

The very first issue of Vogue was released in December 1892 in the United States.

In September 1916 the British edition of Vogue was launched.

Marie Claire

Jean Prouvost, creator of Paris Soir launched Marie Claire in 1937 in France.

 GRAZIA

The first edition of Grazia was released in November 1938 in Italy.

GLAMOUR

Originally called Glamour of Hollywood, the first issue of Glamour magazine was published in the United States in 1939. The edition featured the actress Ann Sheridan on its cover.

ELLE

Elle was founded in France in 1945. The name also has French origin and translates as “she”.

InStyle

The first issue of InStyle was released in June 1994 in the United States. The edition featured Barbra Streisand on the cover.
